Darren Moore would “like one or two more” and has “no news” on any players leaving
Port Vale manager Darren Moore tells BBC Radio Stoke’s Phil Bowers that he’s pleased with the progress over the summer so far while there have been no firm bids for any of the club’s players.
The planning of the pre-season was good. We’ve learnt a lot looking at last season and it’s putting things in place to stop things like that repeating. It’s a reset button. It’s really important for me that the supporters connect with the team and the team connect with the supporters…
Moore says the team need to move on from last season’s relegation saying: “We want to try and forget about last year but for it to serve as a driver for us in terms of what not to do. There’s no easy way around it, it’s just putting the work in. We’re making sure we’re competitive on all levels for this season.”
The manager is also pleased with the club owners and senior staff adding: “Transparency is key. I think as a group of people we’ve been really open and transparent. We’re all working together as a group as opposed to individuals.”
The summer signings so far
Our dedicated news section has features on confirmed signings plus transfer rumours over the summer.
Moore is still targeting more players as long as they are right for the club commenting: “We would like one or two more. We still feel there are one or two areas of the team that we feel could help and benefit more but again the right players have to be available. We are targeting players that would give the team the right balance.”
There’s no indication of any moves out of the club at this time. Several of last season’s underperforming players appear to be not required while the likes of Ben Garrity and Baylee Dipepa may attract bids. Moore said: “We’ve had one or two enquiries but nothing solid or complete. We will continue to try and add some depth to the squad. In terms of anyone going out we have no news.”
In summary, Moore is pleased with the progress adding: “The planning of the pre-season was good. We’ve learnt a lot looking at last season and it’s putting things in place to stop things like that repeating. It’s a reset button. It’s really important for me that the supporters connect with the team and the team connect with the supporters.”
