Sam Hart: Port Vale confirm fourth summer signing as former loanee joins
Port Vale have confirmed the signing of former loanee Sam Hart on a two-year deal.
He becomes the fourth player to join the club this summer following the additions of Ronan Curtis, Ryan Croasdale and striker Jayden Stockley.
Hart spent a brief loan spell with the Valiants back in 2016. He was most recently at Sutton United where he was named player of the year for the 2023-24 season.
Hart will add much needed competition for the left wingback slot.
Manager Darren Moore commented: “Sam is an athletic full back with a combative nature who will bring a good balance to our back line. Following a number of conversations with Sam, it was easy to see that he has bought in to what we are building here at Port Vale, a competitive squad that the supporters can be proud of and confident in to represent them week in, week out.”

While I’m not disappointed at the moment lol with the signings we’ve made I’m more concerned about the lack of movement out I would have hoped that some clubs out there would have forgotten how bad some of those players were last season and offered us big money for them surely our ability to bring in replacements will be determined on how many we can get out the door and how quickly we can’t leave it til deadline day

Fully agree with the previous comment. I too am pleased with the new signings but am desperate to see some of ‘the dead wood’ leave the club. We cannot have a huge squad of players with a number of them not good enough to be considered for the first team. We need a harmonious and competitive dressing room. I know some contribution towards paying off the contracts may be needed but that may well be a price worth paying

The problem is no disrespect to any footballer but due to their performances last season it will be hard to move them on being under contract is the problem but we seem to be going in the right direction injury free younger age than last season and experienced at lge2 level credit to Darren Moore for knowing what’s what

I should imagine once the current squad see signings in their positions and know they will be down the pecking order they will soon want a move.

Hart is an excellent signing to strengthen both the defensive and attacking aspects of the left back role. He impressed me when on loan at the Vale, and a few years ago I also saw him on a live TV game featuring Southend when he was their outstanding player. The signings so far spot on, pitched at the right level to potentially make the Vale a very competitive League 2 side.

He was part of Southend, Oldham and last season Sutton teams that were relegated to the national league hope he is not a bad omen
