Amoros and Pereira

All this seasons recruits need to be assessed, are they now up to L1/2 standard in fitness, stamina, show some potential, or no longer needed? Our early games showed some skills, we probably had some lucky results, but surely a few worth keeping and useful in a better structured team?

With my scouting hat on I have a problem with Amoros. He cannot kick the ball very far and as a result he has to play things short and gives the impression that he does not give the ball away. In other words his technique is poor and it will be difficult to change now. I am sure Michael Brown sees this every day in training.

Also Monaco reserves play in the third tier of French football which is below our standard.

So your saying everyone who passes the ball short/not very far and keeps it simple has poor technique? Claude Makelele made a career out it! And Danny Sonner for that matter!

I'm not sure that's fair on Amoros, I appreciate midfielders should have a range of passing but I'm guessing he's been brought up on the European way of keeping the ball, I'd agree that style of football will not work in the English lower leagues very oftern but I'm not sure it means his technique is poor.

I can't remember Ian Taylor or Ian Bogie being long ballers aswell.

I wonder what he sees in Ryan Taylor, he can't kick the ball to a Vale player from any range.

Shalaj mystifies me too, although admittedly he's not played in England before he one of the few to have actually played a reasonable amount of games in 2 top flights in Europe(Romania and Switzerland).

The Shalaj situation mystifies me also. To the best of my knowledge Shalaj has come on twice as a sub late on for Vale and both times he's hit two corking strikes that the keeper has only just saved/ball rolled onto the post so there might be something in there. But two managers have seen him in training and both have chosen not to start or give him significant game time.

Can't agree with that Ray given some of the superb midfielders mentioned subsequent to your post.

Seen both players in the gym neither are injured. Would be sad to see Amoros go think he could be decent in the right system and players around him. Shame De Freitas has left thought he had potential as well but understand he was homesick. It appears Brown will be manager regardless next season and is beginning to make decisions for next season.
