Got sent off at Newport and outside of a few minutes against Bristol Rovers where he looked well out of shape didn’t see him after that. He’s right at the top of the list of people we should want to move on in all honesty, even when available he’s an accident waiting to happen defensively.

If as seems likely from the number of posts, that many are pinning their hopes on the Vale coming down to a league where they will be competitive, then they are doomed to disappointment. The Potteries & District lads and dads league no longer exists....

On a serious note, I would be happier to see signings earlier not later as we have heard the "biding our time" deflection before, with the result that we signed nobody or panic signed complete and utter dross. I know that the club killer is no longer with us, but can we really blame everything on him?

Never heard of this geezer. Love how they say ex Pompey. He played about 5 games in 6 years and played more for Tanzania during this period.

even when available he’s an accident waiting to happen defensively.

So is Smith, whether it be a complete inability to control the ball, wrestling a player to concede a peno, doing the obligatory Smith Shank when trying to pass it, or just passing the ball from a free kick to the oppo striker. Yet he's the first name on a lot of people's team sheet. For me, a complete overhaul of the defence needed, with Smith as a backup if he has to stay.

Has it been said anywhere when the players are back in for training? I would of thought a week on Monday but i also heard it could be as soon as this Monday

We’re now in League 2.

In Nathan Smith’s last season in League 2, only 2 years ago, he played 44/46 league games and won promotion.

Some argue that he shouldn’t start next season.

It just doesn’t add up. We have compelling, recent evidence that he’s a good League 2 defender.

I use to criticise Smith too but have come to appreciate what he does. He’s a good defender.

He’s not a leader or a ball player, and had an off season by his consistent standards last season - not helped by the incompetence surrounding him.

His mistake against Lincoln was bad but has now been over-discussed and used as evidence of his inability - when really it’s the exception to the rule.

He’s 401 games in for us and doesn’t often make big mistakes. Put a lump next to him and he’ll have a good season.

0 = Bromley, Crewe, Morecambe, Newport

Happy with Curtis and Croasdale, but hoped we'd have a couple more in the building of a similar ilk. Plus also moving some of the dossers on.
