Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Also to give them as much as time as possible with the squad in pre-season.

If this all comes off and we're quite good this year, Darren Moore has completely blown up the idea that a DoF is needed. You just give an experienced manager some cash and tell him to sort it out.

That's the other thing,Moore stated he wanted his signings in early and that's the way it's going,it is going to give us the advantage of the majority of players playing together through all of the pre season instead of as we have done over the past couple of summers leaving a lot of it until near the end of pre season or after the season starts

Teams shaping nicely still a few blanks be filled in for me .

Subs bench is humongous

      Ripley

New player New player New player Hart

     Croasdale Garrity Chislett Curtis

     Stockley Tolaj

Subs's the rest .

So  i make it 4 players required cover in  midfield and 3 better defenders than we have .

I dont think we will bring in 4 more now unless players start to leave, lets not forget we also have the other 2 youth lads going to sign up

Dipepa is still far too raw for physical League Two football. If he stays and we played him he would have his moments where he shows his obvious talent. But ultimately I think he's still a way off yet. If he stays as one of our four strikers then I expect him to be more of an impact player off the bench.

It's a conundrum for him and the club. He's still only 17, as is Shorrock.  The only advantage to either of being here is regular game time. Both could have left for bigger clubs and played a higher level of age group football.  There's also a danger of over playing both. Getting both the right amount of football is as important as promotion if the club want to make long-term progress as how we handle both will be important if we are to compete for the best young local talent. At about the same age Paynter made around 15 starts and 15 substitute appearances, which is probably a reasonable benchmark for both.

We're not going to start the season with an entire new back line. Smith, if he stays, will be a starter, and Iacovitti will also play a big part. He's the type of centre-back every League Two side will have at the back.

We're clearly going for a quality over quantity approach this summer with the signings. And rightly so. I expect another couple of permanent signings, if nobody leaves, and our squad being further bolstered by two or three loanees.

Talking about more players, I thought I'd include a link to this feature:

In it, Moore says he would like one or two more (I guess any more than that depends on shifting some out). He also makes mention of giving the team the "right balance" which seems to suggest he is looking at the positions most of us have already suggested - centre-back and full-back cover I would guess.

I don't see as many loans as in previous years. Last year the strategy was to bring in first choice loan players. We won't get clubs loaning us attacking players when we have Tolaj, Stockley,  Curtis, Dipepa and Chislett because clubs will be expecting them to play regularly. There isn't a lot of point bringing in the traditional first loan bench warmers club's want to get experience in a first team environment,  as we have the likes of Plant, Buah and Shorrock who we need to develop. In the past some loans just compensated for not having our own young players. I'm sure there will be 1 or 2, particularly if we get a couple of early season injuries.

I'd be surprised if Clark, Smith and Hart don't start the first game.

Like you say I also only think there will be a couple of loans and that's it but i think we will also save money in the pot for January if needed
