You thinking of Freddie Lawrie who joined us from there then was sold to Villa last season?

On the face of it the Luton XI however you want to term it isn’t the most glamorous fixture but it’s all about being ready for the season start. Something we certainly were not going into the Barnsley game last season. Might even be a chance at getting a look at maybe one of their younger players in a live game to take on loan, who knows.

I believe we have just signed another 'old skool' type striker from Hanley too -  who is highly rated amongst the academy staff

Interesting one added here. Wonder if we might be doing a training camp in the south west then.

That's a good fixture for any Vale fans based in the West Country :whistling:

Makes sense with there being a 20 day gap between Leek & Luton games mate 👍🏻 Beats Japan 😆

I live in Bristol and go to the occasional Bath City game (it helps they play in black and white).

Twerton park is a good lower league ground with lots of terracing. Depending on how they police this as a friendly, there are parts of the ground you can drink a cider/beer on the terraces. Quite a few decent pubs nearby. The main train station is atleast a 35 minute walk, but there is a smaller station closer (Oldfield Park).

Bath City are one of the more decent NLS teams. Think they expect to challenge for playoffs next season.

I think this will be a fun fixture for us. Bath do also have friendlies with Rovers, Bristol City and Cheltenham, so they are probably expecting bigger crowds for those.

Happy memories of being in their end when Ronnie Futcher dropped the nut.

Also got absolutely drenched there in a 3-3 draw.

Could be a decent day out but it’s a bit of a journey from the Pots for an away friendly, although there are a few Vale fans in that neck of the woods.  I can’t see many attending this one to be fair.

Looked at train times and prices earlier for this, it's around £50-60 return from Stoke to Bristol Temple Meads then around a tenner to Oldfield Park
