I think they are so afraid to be seen as pushing too far they dont push far enough [as JA says]. Its very difficult to compartmentalise people, its practically impossible to define all human actions, interactions, emotions etc within differing circumstances.

The easy solution is to set up strict guidelines that everyone has to follow, but the "rule book" would be so big it would be impossible to implement because of the numerous variations and possibilities of each individual situation [by easy I mean everyone would have the same approach]

The only real solution is to have one simple strict rule.... if in any doubt take them out... but again this has problems. Several children would be removed when not necessary but several would be saved.

Its like drawing a line in the sand at the edge of the sea.

Good points

Imagine the uproar of repeated cases where children were taken form their parents whoe were then months later showed to have done nothing and the children returned...would we accept this as a price worth paying to catch the wrongdoers? Would it be the thin end of the wedge and then 'social services' start taking kids cos they 'don't like/agree' with how they are being raised? All you parenets imagine having your kids potentiall snatched from you and kepot form you for months due to unfounded suspicions..would you see that as a price worth paying to protect the genuine victims?

Life sentence and 30 years before that can be reviewed....as I believe a review date has to be set it seems reasonable

Something like 25,000 children a year are taken into care, half of them against their parents wishes.Social workers target decent families but shy away from anyone who may be violent or might scream ‘racism’.As a result, the most vulnerable children are abandoned to their fate.Is that what happened in the case of Daniel Pelka?

Don’t expect the ‘serious case review’ to provide answers to any of these questions.Don’t expect any blame to be attributed, either.

No one involved in this case has been sacked or disciplined.Nor are they likely to be,they never are.Just look at the Mid-Staffs hospital massacre. Many of those responsible are still working for the NHS.

A system which will sack a school dinner lady summarily for accidentally serving a slice of gammon to a Muslim pupil, routinely forgives institutionalised neglect that results in tragic and avoidable loss of life.

All you need to know is that lessons won’t be learned and it will happen again.

Wonder if there ius a case for deportation/repatriation to serve the term back home?

I did wonder, but quickly realised all the human rights agencies would kick up a stink, plus the racial equality commission would complain and Shami Chackrabarti from Liberty would have an orgasm at the thought of getting on to Newsnight to decry anything to do with the establishment.

  • 1 month later...

A serious case review by Coventry Safeguarding Children Board published today found that police received 26 reports of domestic violence at Daniel Pelka's family home in the city whilst teachers failed to spot signs that he was being beaten and starved.

Social workers proved too willing to believe his manipulative and aggressive parents' claims that his injuries were the results of accidents and a paediatrician did not link Daniel's dramatic weight loss with neglect.

Can't believe that nobody is held accountable.
